Overview
By default, Blox enables the placement of content virtually anywhere on your Genesis powered WordPress website through the use of action hooks. While this covers most users’ needs, there are limitations.
The Shortcodes Add-on expands the versatility of Blox by allowing you to display content blocks anywhere that supports shortcodes. For example, never before have you been able a show a block within the content of a post. Now you can!
So you might be wondering, “Ok this add-on sounds interesting, but when would this ever be useful?” Well, we are glad you asked.
There are times you may need to add content to the body of a page that is a bit unwieldy when using the builtin WordPress editor. Perhaps it is complicated HTML/CSS, maybe some javascript or even PHP. Two good illustrative examples are embedding a MailChimp newsletter signup form and adding Google Adsense content. Both have unwieldy HTML and javascript that the WordPress editor simply can’t handle very well. In the following short tutorial, we will show how easy it is to add a Mailchimp signup form to the content of a page using Blox and the Shortcodes Add-on.
For more usage information, please visit this add-on’s documentation page.
